Welcome to the Mage's Scorn development page!
Mage's Scorn is a crafting survival game that allows players to create foretresses and items for defending themselves agains potential calamaties that occur based on racial tension between two nations.
There are three races in this realm. The magical and wise Elves live in the forests of the world, the strong and thoughtful Dwarves live in the mountains, and the calm hardworking Humans live in the planes.
Elves and Dwarves have many fundamental differences. Their races have come to all out war many times in the past, placing the Human race square in between them. There were many casualties on all sides.
Lately, when it seems the world is on the brink of war, a magic calamaty happens causes nearly as many deaths and destruction as a war would.
This game starts with the player, a young human, leaving town for a simple quest. Perhaps it is to bring back wood or somthing. When the player returns their towns is destroyed. There are only two survivors, one blames it on the Elves, the other blames it on the dwarves. Both of these characters dislike their respective races before the event.
Upon leaving town again, the player will be phychically contacted by a wizard. He will say, "I see you have magical abilities, press [Alt] and follow the magical trail I have left for you."
This brings up 'Magic Vision'. A special game mode that allows players to see magical spells, enchanted items, and magical creatures easily, while subduing non magical elements.
Once the player follows the puffy purple smoke guiding them to the wizard (only visible in Magic Vision). The wizard will teach the player about magic and and how wands are required and that there are 3 cores and each person is disposed to one type of core. He will then send the player off to find a wand. Once the player has a wand, the wizard will teach them how to create and cast spells. The player is left to their own devices until they find 10 Runes (other than the ones given to you). Upon finding 10 runes, the wizard will ask the player to retun and teach them to make wands. He will then say, "You are quite an acomplished wizard, if you think you can, climb to the top of the black tower, some of my associates up there might use your help."
The black tower is just that, a tall black tower. This tower has a powerful monster on every floor until you reach the top. On the top floor, the player sees several wizards studying the room and a large machine in the middle.
This machine will show some state of charge, which can be learned about from a wizard nearby. Speaking to one wizard will give this text, "Oh, no, I don't fight.\nHow did I get up here?\nI used the teleporter pad there."
After this conversation, a pad will light up and allow the player to teleport from the bottom floor to the top floor without fighting.
The machine controls the calamaties. it is an ancient machine built long ago to keep the peace. Races must stay friendly or they will be destroyed. All the living races have long forgotten about the machine.
The player can turn off the machine once they find ALL the action runes, and organize them into the correct pattern. Like a tile puzzle, the runes will each have a tile that can be place in open squares. Once completed, the player can turn off the machine, stopping the calamaties forever.
The player can also turn them back on if they want to play the challenges again.
